I love May’s inspiration quote in the Rule The World Planner (I mean honestly, I love them all). Debbie Millman has been a source of inspiration for me since the day I entered Design school. If you haven’t checked her out, be sure to check her out, read one of the numerous books she’s written, and definitely listen to her podcast, Design Matters. Don’t forget to start making mistakes & taking risks, if you’re interested in trying something new, start documenting it in a small way – start sharing! Ask people to join you on your journey and find a place where you can revisit where you started – I bet you’ll be amazing in a few weeks to go back and see what you’ve learned!
Better late than never! This month’s inspirational quote inside the Rule The World Planner is from Arianna Schioldager from Create and Cultivate. Create and Cultivate has built an amazing community, and this quote really spoke to me, so I handlettered it, and included it in the planner. I find myself often thinking that I’m not ready to release something, and spend hours more tinkering with it. When you allow yourself to release something early, before you’re ready, you get valuable feedback, and give your self an opportunity to GET SHIT DONE! Is there a project you’re working on that you keep putting on the back burner? What steps can you take to push that project forward? Can you release just a portion of it? Can you talk about it online? Sometimes even just talking about it online, makes you commit to it. March is a great time to reconnect, and revisit your goals, if you haven’t kept up with your resolutions, check back in with yourself, and get to work; it’s never too late. Goodluck and I can’t wait to see what you’re working on!
I say YES to any opportunity to work with Natalie Sinisgalli. Not only is she one of my favorite people, but she’s SO talented, and the fact that she’s also in Rochester, NY makes me love her even more! For Valentine’s Day I was asked to contribute some calligraphy to a beautiful styled shoot with some other incredible local ladies. I’m always honored to be asked to represent as a local designer. I loved working with red and pink to break up my regular black and white mix. White calligraphy on a bold envelope is such an amazing combo, I can’t get enough! I also experimented with calligraphy on vellum, which is another timeless option – I love seeing a vellum envelope for a really fun invitation. I hope you had a lovely day, and ate lost of chocolate, because obviously that’s the most important part of February 14th!
